About this club

University of Nottingham Boat Club was founded in 1892 and rows on the River Trent from Trentside North in West Bridgford. It also uses the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont for training.

The club caters for students from beginners to experienced and elite rowers. Beginner taster sessions lead into a novice programme, while the senior squad trains for BUCS, national heads and the Henley regattas.

Its Trentside boathouse gives crews direct access to the Trent. The university partnership with the National Water Sports Centre adds use of the regatta lake, while club training also includes strength and conditioning. The students' union says water training at the two sites runs three times each week.

At BUCS Regatta in 2024, Lucas Salmon and Nathaniel Dawson won the Open Championship Lightweight Double Sculls. Nottingham added several silver and bronze medals and finished ninth in the overall Victor Ludorum.

The university then listed Henley Women's Regatta, the Metropolitan and Marlow regattas, and Henley Royal Regatta among the club's remaining 2024 targets. The club and students' union also record a history of athletes progressing to Great Britain and Olympic rowing.
