Albany Rowing Club is based on the Kalgan River at Nannarup Road, Lower Kalgan, Western Australia. Its own history describes an inclusive club serving rowers of different ages and levels, with regular local activity and visiting crews.
The club was formed in 1984 by a group of named local founders. Negotiations for a permanent site near the Kalgan bridge followed in 1986; the first clubhouse was used on 16 April that year and officially opened in 1987.
A club member helped initiate the Western Australian Masters Games in Albany in 1990. The club's history says it later developed a pattern of biannual regattas and continued to build participation around the Kalgan River.
Albany advertises Learn to Row and open-day opportunities for people aged 16 and above. A 2023 local report placed those sessions at the Nannarup Road boatshed near the Lower Kalgan bridge and invited new members.
The club hosted a masters regatta on the Kalgan River in 2026 with 154 competitors from nine clubs, up from 90 competitors at the 2024 edition. Rowing WA lists the boatshed at Nannarup Road, Lower Kalgan 6330.
