About this club

Perth Rowing Club rows from 4 The Esplanade in Mount Pleasant. Its current site describes a club for rowers of different ages and abilities and traces the organisation through several names and locations.

The first meeting took place at Maylands Town Hall on 21 July 1933, creating Maylands Rowing Club at the East Street jetty. The club moved to Swan Street, East Perth in 1937.

Its first member selected for a Kings Cup crew raced in 1946, and the club bought its first new boat in 1947. Incorporation followed in 1951 and a maiden eight delivered the club's first state championship in 1952.

The name changed to Perth Rowing Club in 1956. Following the 1962 Commonwealth Games, the club moved to its present Mount Pleasant location; later names included Perth and Collegians and ECU Perth before it returned to Perth Rowing Club. These names are documented as stages of the same club history.

The current club promotes rowing for beginners and established athletes. Rowing WA's 2025 pennant standings placed Perth seventh with 786 points, providing a recent measure of its participation in the state competition.
