Banks Rowing Club was founded on 29 August 1866 and is based at 3 Boathouse Drive on the Yarra River in central Melbourne. It is affiliated with Rowing Victoria.
The club offers high-performance, youth and development, club and veterans rowing. It welcomes athletes leaving school, returning to rowing or moving from another club.
Banks says its history includes Olympic and Commonwealth Games representatives and world champions. Named Olympic representatives in the club record include Paul Guest and James Lowe.
The club has ranked among the leading clubs at recent Victorian State Championships. At the 2023 Australian National Championships its athletes recorded several podium finishes and included Victorian representatives and reserves.
Banks also had athletes selected for the senior Australian team and the Australian University Games team in the same season. Its current focus combines competition across levels with an inclusive club community.
