About this club
The Cardinal Club is an incorporated association formed in 1981 to support rowing at Scotch College. It is affiliated with Rowing Victoria, the Old Scotch Collegians Association and the Scotch Parents' Association.
The club supports Scotch College Boat Club, connects rowing families and provides social and competitive rowing for Old Scotch Collegians and adult members of the wider Scotch community. Scotch College itself has rowed competitively since 1868.
Cardinal Rowers operates within the club for Old Boys, parents and other connected adults. It holds social rowing on Sunday mornings, while some members train for masters and veterans regattas.
The club provides riverbank and logistical support at school regattas, particularly Head of the River. It also works with Mercantile Rowing Club to run the Scotch-Mercantile Regatta and helps with the Year 8 regatta.
The alumni association describes about 800 Cardinal Club members across life and current-student life categories. In 2025 Scotch won the Head of the River First VIII and recorded ten division wins across the regatta, supported by its rowing staff and community.
