About this club

Dimboola Rowing Club is based at Dimboola Recreation Reserve and offers social and competitive rowing. Its community listing also advertises Learn to Row and gym access through membership.

A public meeting at Victoria Hall on 27 April 1882 resolved to form the club. Its first boat shed was completed by 13 July, and the first Dimboola regatta followed in November before a reported crowd of about 1,000.

The club affiliated with the Victorian Rowing Association on 19 August 1920. In 1921 its women won the Victorian Ladies Champion Four.

Dimboola's women later won country championships in 1946, 1949, 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1958. The club also ran post-war Learn to Row campaigns to bring new people into the sport.

The Elswick Challenge Cup became another recurring success. Dimboola won it at Henley in 1937 and again in 1957.

The annual Dimboola Regatta remains part of the Victorian calendar, traditionally on the third Saturday in November. The 2025 programme identifies Dimboola Rowing Club as host.
