Melbourne Rowing Club rows from Boathouse Drive on the Yarra in central Melbourne. The club says its members range from teenagers to people in their seventies and include beginners, recreational rowers and experienced competitors.

The club was established at the Cricketers Arms on 12 March 1862 and officially opened on 1 July that year. In the early twentieth century it merged with Civil Service Rowing Club, admitted women later in the century and became incorporated in 1984.

Its history records members who became Olympians and world champions. Jane Robinson, for example, was the first Melbourne member to stroke an Australian Olympic crew when she raced at Sydney 2000, and she later won the 2001 world title in the women's eight.

Current rowing options begin with introductory courses and extend through development and competitive squads to state and national representation. Registration information lists access to boats and oars, the gym, ergometers, squad sessions, coaching, fitness training and club social activities.
