About this club

Mildura Rowing Club rows on the Murray River from 143 Hugh King Drive in Mildura. Its current site offers rowing from junior to masters level, with beginner, recreational and competitive participation.

The club held its inaugural official meeting on 23 August 1909 and elected Dr Parker as its first president. Thirty-seven of its 40 members enlisted during the First World War, placing club activity into hiatus.

A 1918 flood carried away the original boathouse, although the club history says the fleet was preserved. The club was revived in 1923 and held its first Henley on Murray regatta on Easter Monday 1925.

After another period of inactivity, the club reopened in 1944. Its published history was assembled through research begun in 2008 and records the people, facilities and competition that sustained rowing in Mildura.

Current Learn to Row sessions run in spring and summer and accept participants aged 13 and above. The club says its programs lead from first experience through to competitive racing while retaining recreational opportunities on the Murray.
