Rowing Victoria's 2024-25 annual report lists Sale Rowing Club among the state's affiliated clubs. In November 2024 the association also promoted a free Come and Try session for people returning to rowing after years or decades away.

The club rows from the Sale waterway connected to the Thomson River. A September 2024 paddling report describes boats leaving the pool at Sale Rowing Club and entering the Thomson River.

The Sale name has a much older rowing history. Australian Rowing History lists a Sale club on the La Trobe River in 1888 and separately preserves a substantial First World War honour roll under the club's name.
