About this club

Shepparton Rowing Club is a community club at the southern end of Victoria Park Lake. It is affiliated with Rowing Victoria, trains throughout the year and says members attend up to ten state regattas each season.

The original club was formed on 31 October 1884. A boathouse opened in December 1934 after an earlier shed burned down in 1932, but club activity later lapsed during the 1960s.

A short-lived revival occurred in 1993. The present club was re-established at a public meeting on 27 July 2011, and its current boathouse was completed in July 2013.

The club primarily rows singles, doubles and quads and supports youth participation through school connections and an Adopt-a-School initiative. Its site describes year-round training and travel to metropolitan and regional competition. Junior members have represented the club in under-15, under-17 and school-age events.

The revived club first entered the national championships in 2016-17, finishing 16th of 34 in an under-17 single and sixth of 22 in a composite quad. The same history records David Schier receiving Rowing Australia's Volunteer of the Year award and state championship gold in a D-grade coxed quad during 2018-19.
