About this club
Yarrawonga Rowing Club was a rowing club in Yarrawonga with a history traced by local reporting to 1884. Its story included periods of operation, recess and later revival.
The original club formed in 1884. A 1917 flood washed away its boatshed, after which the club entered a long recess.
Yarrawonga Rowing Club was reformed in August 1947. Rowing Victoria still listed it among affiliated organisations in its 2022-23 annual report.
The Yarrawonga Chronicle reported in 2024 that the club was closing after members concluded it could no longer continue.
The newspaper described the closure as the last stroke for a 110-year-old rowing club and traced the separate foundation and reformation dates in its account.
