About this club
Rowing PEI is a non-profit rowing club with operations in Charlottetown and Brackley, Prince Edward Island. Its Charlottetown programme rows from the Charlottetown Yacht Club from May to October.
The organisation provides introductory rowing and a junior programme for athletes aged 14 and over. It also advertises an adult programme at Brackley and winter training designed to build strength, endurance, technique and crew coordination.
Rowing PEI bought its first coastal boat in 2011 and gradually expanded the fleet. A published coaching brief later described two coastal singles, three doubles and a quad used by the programme.
The club first held the Red Island Regatta on the Brudenell River in 2016. The event initially combined flat-water racing in the morning with coastal racing in the afternoon, then became an all-coastal regatta. In 2019 it introduced Atlantic Canada’s first beach-sprint programme.
The current Red Island Regatta combines beach-sprint time trials with coastal endurance racing for solo, double and quadruple boats. Rowing PEI has scheduled the 2026 edition over two days in August at Brudenell Island.
