About this club
Somba K’e Paddling Club is a registered non-profit organisation in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. It promotes paddling sports for people of different ages and experience levels and runs a distinct rowing programme through Rowing Canada’s registration system.
The club was established in 1999. Its work includes paddling-route access, skills and safety instruction, respect for land and water, and social connections among Yellowknife paddlers.
Somba K’e maintains canoes, kayaks, rowing shells and stand-up paddleboards. Members can use club boats and other equipment and take part in club trips, courses and events.
Rowing has its own membership route, separate from the club’s Alberta Whitewater Association membership for canoe, kayak and stand-up paddleboard activity. The rowing offer includes learn-to-row, intermediate and masters programmes.
A City of Yellowknife grant review recorded funding for rowing equipment. The city also lists Somba K’e in its current sports and recreation directory.
