The iPhone release
Irish clubs can now install the free Row HQ iPhone app from the Apple App Store. Members sign in with the Row HQ account they already use. The app keeps the same profile and club role, so there is no repeat registration or separate download for each organisation.
The Android app shipped in early August. The iPhone version now reaches the rest of the club phone list. Rowers can check the current plan before heading to the boathouse, and the browser remains available for every member who wants it.
This does not split Row HQ into several systems. Members use sessions, crews, boats, notices, euro payments and erg logs. Coaches see availability, build and publish lineups, and record attendance. Committee and admin views cover membership, fleet and payments where the account role permits access.
What can an Irish rower do on iPhone?
A rower can confirm or decline a session, open the published crew, check and reserve a free boat, read club news, pay subs and entry fees in euro, and record erg scores. The member portal continues to provide the same work through any connected browser.
The member can see where they sit before arriving at the boathouse. Coaches can use actual availability to assemble the lineup, publish the final crew and take attendance. Club officers with the right permissions can handle membership, boats and payment records from their own screens.
- Answer the next session and check the final crew list.
- See the available fleet and reserve a suitable boat.
- Read club news, notices, and published event details.
- Pay euro subs and entry fees recorded on the account.
- Log erg work and take a profile picture from the iPhone camera.
The account role sets the view. Rowers do not see committee controls. Coaches receive crew and attendance tools. Committee and admin users can access membership, fleet and payments when the club has assigned that responsibility.
What happens to the Row HQ browser account?
It remains exactly where it was. The iPhone app opens the same Row HQ profile, role and club history as the browser. Members can move between the phone app and a laptop without transferring sessions, crew records, bookings or payment information to a new account.
Nothing has to be imported. A session answer sent through the browser already belongs to the main club list. Lineups and boat bookings behave the same way. Existing Irish members install the app, use their usual sign-in and continue from there.
- Keep the member profile already connected to the club.
- Open the same crews, reservations, notices, and payments.
- Use the iPhone app or browser according to the job.
- Maintain a connection because Row HQ has no offline mode.
A club officer may still prefer a browser for longer membership work. A rower can use the iPhone for a quick crew check. Both screens remain fully equivalent and draw from one club record.
How do existing members sign in?
Members can enter with Apple, Google, or their email address and password. Each option opens the Row HQ account already linked to the Irish club. Sign in with Apple works for people who created the account that way. Nobody joins again or builds another profile.
Clubs do not need an individual App Store listing under their own name. Members search for RowHQ, then sign in. The club role on the account decides whether the person sees rower, coach, committee or admin functions.
Apple access
Use the Apple sign-in already linked to the member profile.
Google access
Choose the existing Google identity for the account.
Email access
Enter the current email address and password.
Role-based access
The club keeps rower, coach, committee and admin controls separate.
A member can take a fresh profile photo with the iPhone camera. That image updates the existing membership record. Coaches and committee volunteers then see the same profile whether they open Row HQ in an app or browser.
Which notifications does the iPhone app send?
Members can receive a push alert when the club cancels a session, publishes news, publishes an event, sends club mail, or records a payment against their account. The messages are tied to ordinary club administration. They are not promotional notifications from Row HQ.
A cancelled outing can matter before a long drive to the boathouse. Club news, event details and mail come from authorised users. A euro payment alert tells the member that the transaction has been entered on their Row HQ record.
- A training session is cancelled by the club.
- A news post is made available to members.
- The committee publishes an event.
- Club mail arrives for the account holder.
- A euro payment is recorded for the member.
The club action remains the source of every alert. Coaches and committee users decide what to cancel, publish, send or record. Members can open the app to read the full item rather than relying on the notification alone.
Where does this leave Android and browser users?
They keep using Row HQ as before. The Android app remains live on Google Play, and the browser continues to provide the full service on any device. Every member reaches the same Irish club account, and every route needs a working internet connection because there is no offline mode.
Android members can still install the app through Google Play. iPhone members now use the App Store. The browser remains a full third choice for any member, coach or officer.
A club affiliated with Rowing Ireland can keep one joining process across the whole membership. The phone platform does not divide crews, fleet reservations, euro subs or attendance into separate records.
How can an Irish club get started?
A member at a current Row HQ club can download the free iPhone app and sign in normally. A new organisation should create its free Row HQ setup, invite members, and let those accounts open through iPhone, Android or the browser.
The rowing club app page describes the broader club system. There is no charge while a club has 20 members or fewer. The Irish pricing page shows the paid member bands in euro above that number.
Irish clubs can now give every phone user a store app without abandoning the browser. The member keeps one account for crews, boats, subs, notices and erg work. The committee keeps one club record.
See you at the boathouse.
