About this club
Bantry Rowing Club is based at Reendonegan Lake outside Bantry, County Cork. The club trains and hosts regattas on the lake and in Bantry Bay, with river and offshore rowing both included in its programme.
Founded in 1963, Bantry is an amateur sports club with junior, senior and masters rowing. Its official site invites new members and records regular training, competition and community events.
The club's current policies cover safeguarding, equality and access for young rowers. They state that Bantry provides sporting opportunities through club, provincial and national-team participation.
Sadhbh Ní Laoghaire Sutker won two gold medals for Ireland at the 2024 Home International Regatta in Scotland. Rowing Ireland identifies her as a PR2 sculler from Bantry and records that those were her first two races in her scull.
Bantry's longboat crew finished second overall at the 2024 Atlantic Challenge in Belfast, Maine, and won the Dr Matt Murphy Memorial Trophy for rowing. The club traces its involvement in the challenge to 1988, when Bantry rowers and sailors borrowed a longboat to compete in France.
The club hosted its Sprint Regatta at Reendonegan Lake in 2024 and 2025. It also worked with the Rowing Ireland Coastal Committee to host the 2024 Irish Coastal Championships in Bantry Bay, the second time the club had staged that event.
