Aquinas College rowing trains from the Tauranga Rowing Club at Memorial Park in Tauranga, and the club provides all of the equipment. Training is a mix of before-school, after-school and weekend sessions.
The programme is best suited to students in Year 9 and above, with boys' and girls' crews from novice through to under 15 and under 18. Keen Year 8 students may be considered, with fewer sessions each week as they build towards racing in Year 9. In Term 4 the college's rowers train and race with students from ACG Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Tauranga Boys' College and Otumoetai College, then race for Aquinas College in Term 1 in the lead-up to the Maadi Cup in March.
Regular competition runs from October to March, at club and secondary school regattas including the North Island Secondary Schools Championships at Lake Karapiro and the Maadi Cup. A composite novice men's coxed quad including two Aquinas College students won bronze at the North Island Rowing Championships at Lake Karapiro, in a result the college reported in February 2026.
