Rotorua Girls' High School rowers train with the Rotorua Rowing Club, based in the Watersports Trust building on the Rotorua lakefront, and row on the western side of Lake Rotorua. The club provides coaching and all equipment, and rowers from all Rotorua secondary schools row with the club.
Students start through Learn to Row sessions, usually held twice a week on a weekday and on Saturday mornings. The club's school programme is for Years 9 to 13, with weekday sessions on rowing machines. Students can also join as coxswains, who sit in the boat and call the strokes.
Crews race at club regattas through the season and at two school regattas, the North Island regatta and the Maadi Cup, which alternates between Twizel and Karapiro.
