Otago University Rowing Club rows on Otago Harbour and the Taieri River in Dunedin, from its base at the Aquatic Centre on Magnet Street. The club was established on 16 April 1929 at a meeting of 40 students.
It takes both novice and experienced rowers, with coaching for competition at a high level and for recreational rowing, and races at the annual University Championships Regatta. The club runs overseas trips, including races in China and racing at Otsu in Japan.
In its early years the club operated out of the Otago Rowing Club with borrowed equipment. It bought its first racing eight in 1939 and won the Hebberley Shield for the first time that year, in a race on Otago Harbour.
Alumni registration is open ahead of the club's centenary, marked as 1929 to 2029.
