Porirua Rowing Club rows on Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour from its boatshed on Onepoto Road at the entrance to Titahi Bay, Porirua. The club was established on 19 June 1967 and held its first regatta, the Goodwill, in December that year. The Goodwill is still on the Wellington rowing calendar.
Programmes cover school-aged Learn to Row in Term 3, club rowing, secondary school rowing, masters, casual rowing and coastal rowing. The club runs its own secondary school programme, bringing together students from several schools including Kapiti College, Paraparaumu College, Aotea College and Tawa College. It also hosts a round of the New Zealand Beach Sprint Series at Titahi Bay Beach.
Members built the current boatshed, which opened on 26 September 1992 next to the original shed. Volunteers renovated the training room in 2022, and the boathouse was re-clad and re-roofed in 2025. Facilities include boat bays, rowing machines, a rowing simulator, gym equipment, changing rooms and coastal rowing equipment.
Rowing in Porirua goes back further. A first Porirua Rowing Club was founded in 1891 and elected to the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association in 1892, before going into recess later that decade.
