About this club

Tauranga Girls' College rowers train at Tauranga Rowing Club at Memorial Park in Tauranga, with a coaching team from the club. The club shed is shared with rowers from several other Tauranga schools.

Rowing is a summer sport at the college. The season runs from September to April, from Term 3 to the end of Term 1 the following year, with some winter training, and sessions build to five mornings a week at the peak of the season. Students of all year levels are accepted, although joining in Year 13 is not possible because those students leave school before the season ends. Year 8 students are often recruited as coxswains.

Most regattas are on Lake Karapiro near Cambridge, with some in Rotorua or Auckland, and every second year the squad travels to Twizel in the South Island. At the 2026 Maadi Regatta the college entered girls' crews from under 15 to under 17 level, including coxed quads, coxed fours, doubles and single sculls.
