Whanganui Collegiate School Rowing Club rows from the school's own boatshed on the Whanganui River in Whanganui, a short bike ride from the campus. The school describes the river as arguably the best tidal river for rowing in New Zealand.
Both boys' and girls' crews race at major regattas, and the programme has a Director of Rowing and a Head of Rowing on the school staff. Rowers can move on to the New Zealand Rowing representative pathway and to university rowing programmes in New Zealand, the USA and Great Britain.
The school describes itself as the most successful school in the history of the Maadi Cup, raced at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship Regatta, and its girls have won the Levin Cup.
