About this club

Anglia Ruskin Boat Club is the rowing club for Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. It rows on the River Cam and has more than 50 members, with places for experienced rowers and students trying the sport for the first time.

The club was founded in 1980 and was previously known as CCAT Boat Club, reflecting the university's former Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology name. The Anglia Ruskin name was adopted in 2008.

ARU says the club enters competitions throughout the year, including River Cam races, BUCS Regatta and the May Bumps. It has a partnership with X-Press Boat Club, whose coaching team includes Anglia Ruskin's current head coach and a coach who assists the university's novice crews.

Cambridge University Combined Boat Clubs recognises Anglia Ruskin as one of the boat clubs governed on the Cam. Its regulations treat degree students at ARU, rowing as Anglia Ruskin Boat Club, as equivalent to a Cambridge college for Lent and May Bumps eligibility.

Recent entries confirm the club remains active: it fielded men's and women's crews in the 2025 Lent Bumps start order, and an open crew appeared in Division Four of the initial 2026 May Bumps order.
