City of Cambridge Rowing Club is based on Kimberley Road in Cambridge and rows on the River Cam. The club describes itself as the oldest town rowing club on the Cam and uses 1863 as its establishment year.

Its history traces an earlier Cambridge Boat Racing Club to 1844. The largest part of that organisation became Cambridge Town Rowing Club in 1863, and the town club formed the core of City of Cambridge Rowing Club in 1932. The club bought the freehold of its boathouse in 1959 and celebrated its official centenary in 1963.

City has senior men's and women's, masters, junior and beginner routes. Senior membership is organised into performance, core and development groups, while adult beginner courses and a year-round partnership with Cambridge Rowing Experience provide entry into the sport.

The boathouse was rebuilt in 2019. Current facilities include a fleet of eights, fours, learner boats and sculling boats, a gym with rowing machines and weights stations, changing and refreshment areas, and a licensed club room.

The club held the men's Town Bumps headship from 1951 through 1961, a record ten consecutive years. Its women became Head in 2008 and retained the position for nine years. Current club results include the 2026 Women's Eights Head Provincial Pennant, 23 athletes qualifying for Henley Royal Regatta in 2025 and a first double Town Bumps headship across the men's and women's crews.

City runs Christmas Head, Winter and Spring Head 2 Head races, City Sprints and City Junior Head. Its first Town regatta was held in 1953, and City Sprints now provides annual side-by-side racing in front of the Cambridge boathouses.
