Maidenhead Rowing Club is based on River Road at Taplow, on the River Thames. Its boathouse stands on the Taplow side of the river near the A4 bridge and opened in 1998, when Sir Steve Redgrave performed the opening.

The present club was formed on 8 July 1876 at the Bear Hotel in Maidenhead. It secured a site south of Maidenhead Bridge on the Berkshire bank and remained there until the 1998 move. Its first recorded Henley Royal Regatta entry came in the Town Challenge Cup in 1878.

An eight won the Thames Challenge Cup at Henley in 1924 after the club had been runner-up the previous year. A coxless four added the Wyfold Challenge Cup in 1939. Maidenhead later won the Victor Ludorum at the 2015 British Junior Rowing Championships.

The club organises juniors, senior men and women, masters men and women, recreational rowers, adaptive athletes and coxes into squads. It runs inductions and Learn to Row courses, and its adaptive programme began in 2018.

Facilities include a boathouse and pontoons, gym, weights and rowing-machine rooms, changing areas, bar, kitchen, function room and private boat storage. The fleet covers stable and racing singles, doubles and pairs, triples, quads and fours, octuples and eights, with a lift and pontoon ramp supporting access.

Rob Williams began at Maidenhead before winning an Olympic silver medal in the lightweight four at London 2012. Jack Beaumont, another former Maidenhead athlete, was a Rio 2016 finalist and won world silver in 2017. The club hosts a junior regatta in May and a summer regatta in early August.
