Australian National University Boat Club is based at the ANU boathouse on Sullivan's Creek, about 200 metres upstream from Lake Burley Griffin. The club accepts ANU students, other students and non-students, with rowing offered from beginner to elite level.

The club was formed in 1964. A meeting of 36 people on 20 March elected a steering committee, and the club was competing at the Australian University Championships by 1966. It hosted that regatta in 1970, while its present Sullivan's Creek boathouse opened in 1972.

Rosalind Southwood-Jones became its first Intervarsity gold medallist in 1972, Peter Nevett its first Australian champion in 1976, and Julie Ellett and Kate McLoughlin its first international representatives in 1982. Australian Rowing History records 36 members who have represented Australia, including the club's first Paralympian Kathryn Ross at Rio 2016 and first Olympian Caleb Antill, a bronze medallist at Tokyo 2020.

An Introduction to Rowing programme runs twice a year, with eight lessons over four weeks and no previous experience required. Graduates can move into the novice squad; the club also publishes intermediate, senior and invitation-only high-performance pathways.

The competition calendar includes the Australian University Championships, Disher Cup, Head of the Yarra, ACT and NSW championships and the national championships. The club also offers local regatta racing, University Games selection and ACT winter time trials.
