Canberra Grammar School Rowing Association supports the school's rowing community at the CGS Rowing Centre on Yarralumla Bay. The school programme now includes more than 150 male and female rowers.

CGS rowing began in late 1964 with 20 boys, a regular four, a tub four and an eight. The school established its own aquatic centre on Lake Burley Griffin in 1970 for rowing, kayaking and sailing, then built a new rowing centre on the same site in 2019.

The programme won its first Australian Championships medal in the Schoolboy Coxed Four in 1976 and its first national title in the National Schoolboy Coxed Four in 1978. CGS medalled at every national championship from 1997 to 2011, including Under 17 Schoolboy Eight victories in 2006 and 2011.

Four years after the school became co-educational, its girls' squad won four medals at the 2021 national championships. At the 2025 championships, the Under 19 Men's Coxless Four and Cameron Schmidt in the Schoolboy Single Scull also won medals.

Nick McDonald-Crowley became the first CGS rower to compete at an Olympic Games in 1992. Caleb Antill was the school's first Olympic medallist, winning bronze at Tokyo, and Rowing ACT records more than a dozen CGS rowers who have represented Australia. The Association also hosts community events at the Rowing Centre, including its season-opening twilight gathering after the first regatta of 2026.
