About this club
Brisbane Grammarians' Rowing Club is an Old Boys rowing club linked to Brisbane Grammar School. It is based in the Jane Street rowing precinct at West End on the Brisbane River, with its shed beneath the Rowing Queensland offices and behind the school boatshed.
The club was formed to reconnect Brisbane Grammar Old Boys of all ages with rowing. Neither the club nor school source gives an exact foundation year, so no date is assigned here.
Its membership runs from recent Old Boys to Masters aged over 26. The club welcomes experienced rowers and novices, and offers social rowing for fitness alongside competitive rowing through Queensland's club and Masters calendars.
Members have access to Rowing Queensland's gym, ergometers and bathroom facilities. The club also maintains a social calendar, while its 2026 listings include the Hyne Bridge to Bridge and an Outback Rowing trip tied to the Bentley's Australian Outback Regatta.
At the 2026 Queensland State Masters Championships, the club reported one gold, four silver and nine bronze medals. Sarah Sedgwick and Scott Austin were also selected for the Queensland women's and men's Masters eights.
The club has competed beyond Queensland. A Brisbane Grammarians crew raced the 2012 Head of the Yarra, and club members appeared in composite events at the 2019 World Rowing Masters Regatta. In 2024, a Brisbane Grammarians and University of Queensland composite won an Australian Coastal Rowing and Beach Sprint Championships event.
