Centenary Rowing Club is a public club at 552 Sumners Road, Riverhills, on the Brisbane River. Rowing Australia describes youth rowing as its main focus, with places for students from public and private secondary schools, plus Masters rowing and adult learn-to-row.
Russell Pool and Peter Cook founded the rowing program in 2001 within Centenary Canoe and Rowing Club. It first operated behind Jindalee Scout Hall with one tub pair, while meetings were held at Mount Ommaney Library or members' homes.
Former Olympian Simon Newcomb became involved in 2003 and encouraged the creation of a youth program. The club says 48 old boats were then sourced and rebuilt over four years, and its first regatta was held at Jindalee on 24 October 2004 after a late venue change.
The canoe and rowing sections separated into independent clubs in 2006 while retaining a working partnership. Centenary won its first national medals, two bronzes, in 2008; Chloe Hill became its first national title holder in the under-17 double scull in 2009.
At the 2008 Queensland All Schools Titles, 50 young rowers coached by Centenary represented their schools. The club records 10 gold, five silver and two bronze medals from that group, with 82 percent progressing to finals.
The January 2011 flood damaged the building, pontoon, car park, access path, boats and other equipment. Flooding returned in March 2022, but members and local volunteers cleaned the site and the club still sent what it called its largest team to that year's Australian Rowing Championships.
