About this club
Bundaberg Rowing Club operates a Town Shed at the corner of Quay and Toonburra Streets on the Burnett River and a second facility off Longs Road at Bucca on the Kolan River. The club welcomes rowers from age 13 through to veteran categories.
Bundaberg Boating Club formed in June 1888 and built a shed on the western bank of Saltwater Creek. The modern club dates its establishment to 1888 and celebrated 135 years in 2023.
Organised rowing was revived at a public meeting in November 1905, with 100 members enrolled. The revived club held its first public regatta at Easter 1906, beginning the Easter tradition for its annual regatta.
A Bundaberg four won the Queensland Four-oared Championship in 1906 and retained it in 1907. The club's women won the state four title in 1930, 1931 and 1932, then again in 1934, 1935 and each year from 1938 to 1941.
Today the club offers social rowing, fitness and competitive racing. Five local schools use its facilities for year-round programmes and compete in the Head of the River Series and other local regattas.
The Bucca site has two boat sheds, a training room, accommodation and catering facilities for camps and regattas. Bundaberg Regional Council renewed the club's Burnett River lease for a further decade in 2025.
