Established in 1882, Grafton Rowing Club has a rich history tied to the Clarence River and a tradition of competitive rowing.

Grafton Rowing Club is at the river end of Prince Street in Grafton, on the Clarence River. The club has rowed from the same riverside site since it was formed in 1882.
The first public meeting was held at the Freemasons Hotel, and 28 members formally established Grafton Amateur Rowing Club there on 20 June 1882. The club's first regatta followed on 16 December.
The boatshed contains boat storage, a kitchen, barbecue and erg areas, toilets and showers. The club maintains eights, fours, quads, pairs, doubles and singles for beginner, recreational, training and racing use, along with coaching and safety boats.
Current rowing covers weekly school sport, learn-to-row, social and competitive programmes. A government-supported redevelopment opened with new rowing facilities, a covered viewing deck, cafe and multi-purpose function space.
Grafton continues to stage racing on the Clarence. Its December 2025 weekend combined the schools' Head of the Clarence with a full Northern Rivers Rowing Association regatta, while Rowfest includes the Clarence Classic and the annual Two Islands Row.
