About this club

KAND Rowing Club is a high-performance club based at Tennyson on the Brisbane River. Its current site describes a coached, mentored pathway for athletes seeking national and international competition.

Kelly Armitage and Neville Doughan founded the private club in 2006. Rowing Australia explains that the initials come from the founders' names and records their shared aim of combining enjoyment with success.

The club now presents itself as invitational and serving athletes from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Its focus is athlete development rather than a public learn-to-row or recreational membership program.

KAND's published honour roll includes Australian and New Zealand representatives across under-19, under-21 Trans-Tasman, under-23, senior, para and Olympic categories. Listed athletes include Olympian Logan Ullrich, para representative Toby Goffsassen, and Australian senior representatives Jackson Free, Darcy Watter, Mitch Salisbury and Patty Long.

Australian Rowing History records Mitch Salisbury taking bronze in a Melbourne University and KAND National Training Centre composite at the 2025 Australian Championships. The national championship program lists KAND Rowing Club Inc. as a Queensland competitor in both 2024 and 2025.

In 2026, KAND sent its first campaign to Henley Royal Regatta, represented by an under-19 men's eight. The club's own report describes this as its inaugural appearance at the event.
