About this club
Lake Tuggeranong Rowing Club is a community club on Lake Tuggeranong in Canberra's south. Its boatshed sits beneath the Tuggeranong Town Centre Library in Greenway, and it is the only rowing club based on the lake.
Former New Zealand rower Rex Jones proposed a community club for south Canberra in 1996. The club developed through a partnership with Lake Tuggeranong College and community support, then officially opened at its current premises on 1 July 1998.
The club offers learn-to-row, recreational and fitness rowing, competitive training, and junior, senior and masters rowing. It also advertises free come-and-try sessions and short-term membership for visitors and rowers wanting to use Lake Tuggeranong.
An ACT Government upgrade started in 2019 with work on showers, club storage and shared building infrastructure. The government described the facility as a collaboration between sport and recreation, the Education Directorate, Lake Tuggeranong College and Libraries ACT.
Lake Tuggeranong has also promoted racing on its home water. In 2013 it hosted the inaugural Lake Tuggeranong Festival Cup, with open men's, women's and mixed quads plus schoolboy and schoolgirl coxed-quads, followed by a handicap grand final.
