About this club

Macquarie University Rowing Club is based at the John Lincoln Boatshed on Tambourine Bay Road, Riverview. The boatshed sits on the Lane Cove River and is shared with Community Rowing Club Sydney.

The club's current public profile dates its foundation to 1968, and a Macquarie University history records rowing among the sports chosen by students in the university's early years. It remains an official Macquarie University sports club.

Membership is open to students, alumni and community members. The club accepts experienced rowers and complete beginners, and states that athletes of all nationalities, gender identities and sexual orientations are welcome.

Learn-to-row programmes run twice each year. Experienced rowers can request a trial session, and the club publishes separate midweek and Sunday training times for experienced and learn-to-row groups.

The club has a current Rowing NSW registration and a published regatta schedule for the 2025 to 2026 season. In 2023 it also held a joint open day with Community Rowing Club for students, alumni and community rowers.
