Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club is a combined boating club at 142 Gympie Terrace, Noosaville, on the Noosa River. Its mission includes boating activities, facilities and training programmes for members and the wider community.
The sailing organisation began as Noosa River Sailing Club and opened its first clubhouse in September 1961. Noosa Rowing Club formed in 1981 while its rowers were storing boats at Munna Point.
The sailing and rowing groups agreed to combine in February 1984, creating the incorporated Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club. Don Reed, Dr Nick Kahl, Simon Newcomb and Billy Griffiths helped secure the current riverfront site.
Construction of the current clubhouse culminated in a grand opening on 1 April 1994. The official ceremony involved Queensland Department of Tourism, Sport and Racing regional manager Steve Hoban, commodore John Sheriff and honorary secretary Bruce Whitfield.
The rowing section offers Learn to Row, club rowing for adults, recreational and social rowing, and training for competition. Members use club singles through quads for sculling and sweep rowing, and the club reports masters competitors ranging from age 27 into their seventies.
A 2021 Come and Try day brought more than 20 newcomers to the shed and water, with seven subsequently joining a Learn to Row course. The wider club also hosts Noosa River sailing regattas and runs junior sailing and Sailability programmes.
