Pine Rivers Rowing Club has rowed on Lake Kurwongbah at Petrie since 1958. Its Dayboro Road base serves members from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast and is also used by schools and other organisations for coached rowing.

The club and lake developed together: Lake Kurwongbah was named on 11 November 1958, and a neighbouring water-ski organisation records sharing the water with Pine Rivers since about 1959.

Members can join on competitive or recreational terms, with separate adult and student or apprentice categories. All members register with Rowing Queensland, and competitive rowers race in club kit. An adult learn-to-row course is planned for later in 2026.

Pine Rivers hosts the Genesis School Rowing Program for students in Years 7 to 12 from Genesis Christian College and the Moreton Bay area. The program offers Come and Try sessions, a boatshed tour, technique instruction and on-water rowing.

The lake provides a two-kilometre course from the clubhouse for club regattas, plus another rowing direction of about four kilometres towards Lakeside. Pine Rivers members helped prepare Lake Kurwongbah for the 1972 National Regatta, when the course was buoyed to four-lane Albano standard.

In Queensland championship racing, Pine Rivers won a heat of the 1972 men's lightweight four and finished third in the final. At the 1974 Champion Fours regatta it placed second in the senior men's coxed four and third in the coxless four and lightweight eight.
