Rockhampton Fitzroy Rowing Club is based at 30 Harman Street, Wandal, beside the Fitzroy River in Rockhampton. Rowing Queensland describes the river venue as an eight-lane buoyed course close to the city's accommodation, airport, pool and gyms.

The present club was formed in September 2006. This is separate from the city's much earlier Fitzroy Rowing Club, established in 1877 and renamed Rockhampton Rowing Club in 1880; the fetched sources do not claim organisational continuity between them.

The club works with local schools and the wider community to provide school, recreational, club and masters rowing. A 2018 Emmaus College handbook also records an adult learn-to-row course run by the club and school squads training from its facility.

Rowing Queensland reported 132 registered members and volunteers in 2024, up 9.5 percent from 2023. The same submission names Rockhampton Grammar School, The Cathedral College, Emmaus College and Rockhampton Girls Grammar School as school programs consulted through the club.

The club and local rowing community host large regattas and national training camps. Rockhampton Regional Council's 2022 City Regatta listing scheduled individual and crew racing from 500 to 2,000 metres and described it as preparation for the Central Queensland regional championships.

Rowing Queensland reports that Rockhampton athletes have reached State Pathways teams, won Queensland Championship events, made Australian Rowing Championships finals and represented Australia at the Junior World Rowing Championships.
