About this club
Upper Hunter Rowing Club has operated at Glenbawn Dam, east of Scone in the Upper Hunter. A local government planning document lists the rowing club among the clubs and facilities on the lake's eastern foreshore.
Scott Barnett, a Scone Rugby Club member who had previously rowed with Shoalhaven Rowing Club, formed the programme. It affiliated with the Central Districts Rowing Association in 1990 as Scone Rugby Club Rowing Club and entered one four at a regatta that year.
The club adopted the Upper Hunter Rowing Club name in 1993. It then completed 13 seasons of regular competition before activity ceased in 2006.
In 2012, the rugby club placed the rowing assets under the joint management of Scone Grammar School and St Joseph's High School at Aberdeen. Scone Grammar later took full responsibility, with student crews coached by teacher and Lake Macquarie Rowing Club member Chris Brennan.
Upper Hunter returned for four regattas in the 2014-15 season. Following another two inactive years, it resumed regular competition in 2017-18.
The club built a shed at Glenbawn Dam and hosted 11 CDRA regattas between 1993 and 2003 on a 1,500-metre course beside the dam wall.
