About this club

East Ferry Rowing Club is based at East Ferry Pier in County Cork. Its official site says Benny Deady founded the club in November 2011, and Rowing Ireland currently lists it as a Munster affiliate for coastal sculling and coastal sweep rowing.

The club began within the Coastal Rowing Association and competed at East Cork regattas, the Cork County Championships and the association's All-Ireland championships. Its own history says it subsequently moved into Rowing Ireland competition.

East Ferry offers annual junior, senior, student and family memberships. The membership page says members can take part in local and national regattas, while the club's competition programme covers both sculling and sweep formats.

An early breakthrough came at the 2013 All-Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships in Carnlough. The Irish Examiner reported that East Ferry collected five gold and six bronze medals and was named the championships' most outstanding club.

At the 2016 All-Ireland coastal finals in Ballyshannon, East Ferry won under-18 and under-16 gold medals, added junior men's silver and took bronze in the under-12 event. Irish Rowing Archives also records East Ferry as the 2018 national champion in the under-12 women's event.

The club remains active in both hosted and away competition. Rowing Ireland's 2024 coastal calendar listed an East Ferry traditional four-oared regatta, and the 2025 championship results include an East Ferry and Ballycotton composite junior men's crew.
