UCC Rowing Club was founded in 1868 as Queen's College Cork Rowing Club. It is one of University College Cork's oldest sports clubs and has represented the university for more than 150 years.

The club is based in a boathouse on the Marina Promenade in Cork City. Outdoor training takes place from Cork Boat Club, while indoor sessions use the Mardyke Arena and its sports complex, including a dedicated rowing space and strength-and-conditioning facilities.

UCC fields men's, women's and development or novice squads. The university presents a pathway from complete beginner to high-performance competition, supported in 2025-26 by a head coach, two assistant coaches and a novice coach.

Since 1912, the club has won 54 Irish National Championship titles and its athletes have represented Ireland internationally on 67 occasions. Those appearances include the Olympic Games, World Rowing Championships and World Under-23 Championships.

At the 2025 Irish Championships, UCC won the women's intermediate eight, men's club single, men's senior quad, women's senior quad and women's senior single. The same year it was the fastest overseas crew at the Women's Head of the River in London and placed inside the top 20 overall at the men's Head of the River.

UCC's 2024 national titles included the women's lightweight single, men's senior double and men's club coxed four. Rowing Ireland's Paris 2024 selection also listed Emily Hegarty with UCC in the women's four.

The club continues to recruit students at every level. Its official description states that both beginners and Olympians have a place in the programme, while annual trials provide a route into Irish national squads.
