Auckland Rowing Club rows on the Tamaki River from its clubhouse at Ian Shaw Park, in the Flat Rock area of Mt Wellington, Auckland. Established in 1869, it is the fifth oldest rowing club in New Zealand and has changed location six times. Its history includes many national titles and international representatives.
The club has around 300 members, from under-15 and novice rowers through to masters, racing in both sculling and sweep events. Its affiliated schools are Diocesan School for Girls, Sacred Heart College, Epsom Girls Grammar School and Howick College, and it also hosts visiting overseas rowers, corporate rowers and university rowers.
Programmes include a competitive club squad for rowers aged 17 and over that races at summer regattas, a masters squad for rowers aged 27 and over, and learn-to-row courses for those aged 17 and over, run when numbers allow. The club also runs the ARC 6K Winter Series on the Tamaki, four races from June to August open to club and school crews.
