About this club

Mount Albert Grammar School Rowing, known as MAGSROW, does the bulk of its training at West End Rowing Club at Saunders Reserve in Avondale, Auckland. Rowers also train in the school's rowers gym, and holiday camps are held around Cambridge and Lake Karapiro.

The squad has girls' and boys' crews from novice to senior level. Students join through the Rowing Academy in Years 9 and 10, a Learn to Row programme run each August, or a trial at the start of the season. The season runs from September to March, with the squad generally training five days a week, and regattas are raced at Lake Pupuke and Lake Karapiro.

Rowing at the school dates back to the 1930s, and the school won the first Maadi Cup in 1947. Rowing was reinstated in 2010. At the 2026 Maadi Cup at Lake Ruataniwha, crews won gold in the boys' under 16 double sculls, with bronze in the girls' under 17 coxed quad and boys' under 15 eight.
