About this club

St George's Rowing Club rows on the Tāmaki River from its clubhouse on Kings Road, Panmure, in Auckland. The club was first established on 31 August 1883 at St George's Bay, Parnell, and is New Zealand's 12th oldest rowing club.

Its clubrooms moved several times as the Auckland waterfront changed, to Judges Bay in 1888 and Mechanics Bay in 1932, before the club relocated to the Tāmaki River at Panmure in 1949.

Members include school crews from Glendowie College, which joined the club in the 1991/92 season, and Macleans College, which has rowed since 2002, along with a club squad and masters rowers. The masters group formed in 1995 and races from 1000m regattas to long distance events. A Masters Learn to Row programme for adults over 28 who have not rowed before runs several times a year.

The club history records more than 175 members across the school, club and masters groups.
