About this club

Takapuna Grammar School Rowing Club runs the school's rowing programme, with water sessions from the Blue Shed at Bayswater Marina in Bayswater, Auckland, and land training at the club's erg shed on the school grounds in Belmont. The club was formed in July 1983 when rowing was re-established at the school, and it is affiliated to the Auckland Rowing Association and the Secondary Schools Rowing Association.

The club runs boys' and girls' squads from novice to senior level. Its Learn to Row course is open to beginners from Year 8 to Year 12 who attend or plan to attend the school, and club policy is that all students who want to row can row.

Crews race the Christmas Regatta, the Auckland Schools regatta, the North Island Secondary Schools Championships and the Maadi Cup, with places at the last two by selection. A girls' under 16 eight won its event at the 1989 Maadi Cup. The club was named 2025 Auckland Rowing Club of the Year, and a senior boys' under 18 quad reached the A final at the Christmas Regatta in the 2025/26 season. The club also hosts the Head of Harbour Regatta on Lake Pupuke.
