Westlake Girls High School rowing is run by the Westlake Girls Rowing Society, and its crews row out of North Shore Rowing Club's boatsheds at Greenhithe and Lake Pupuke in Auckland. All the rowers are club members, racing in club colours at club regattas before Christmas and as Westlake Girls High School at school regattas.
The season runs from September, starting with a spring camp at Karapiro, to March. Beginners can take an eight-week Learn to Row course that runs through winter, and Year 9 rowers start racing at Lake Pupuke with the Bennett Shield. Squads are organised by age group, from under 15 to under 18, and the season builds towards the North Island Secondary Schools championships and the Maadi Cup.
The school first raced at the Maadi Cup in 1983 and the society was set up in 1990. Westlake Girls has won the Dawn Cup (girls' under 18 coxed four) four times, in 1989, 1990, 2002 and 2014, and the Levin Jubilee Cup (girls' under 18 eight) in 1989 and 1990, placing second in that event in 2010 and 2014.
