Hamilton Harbour has been a competitive rowing venue since the early twentieth century. The Leander Boat Club, founded in 1927 on the south shore of Hamilton Harbour, is the citys flagship rowing club and has represented Canada at four Olympic Games. The harbour's protected waters and easy access to Lake Ontario make it a popular training venue for competitive and recreational rowers across the Golden Horseshoe.

Won the Royal Canadian Henley 150lb eights in their inaugural season, then represented Canada at four Olympics between 1932 and 1952: Los Angeles 1932 (bronze in the eight), Berlin 1936, London 1948 and Helsinki 1952.
