The rowing scene in Toronto

Toronto Harbour and the Toronto Islands have been the cradle of Canadian rowing since the 1860s. The Argonaut Rowing Club, one of the oldest clubs in the country, founded the Toronto Argonauts football team as a side activity in 1873. Today, clubs at the Outer Harbour, Port Credit and the waterfront serve competitive, masters and recreational rowers across the Greater Toronto Area, with Rowing Canada events and the Royal Canadian Henley drawing teams from across the province.

Key numbers

Toronto Harbour - the protected inner harbour between the city waterfront and the Toronto Island chain - provides sheltered sprint and head-race water. The Outer Harbour near Marilyn Bell Park is the hub for competitive programmes. Port Credit on Lake Ontario (Mississauga) extends the Greater Toronto rowing scene westward. Open Lake Ontario beyond the Eastern Gap provides coastal and marathon rowing for more adventurous crews.

Software for Toronto rowing clubs

Most of the 3 clubs above still run their boat booking, member admin, session attendance and crew lineups on a combination of spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups and printed sheets on the boathouse wall. Row HQ is rowing-club management software built specifically for clubs like these.

If your committee is hitting the predictable problems - lineups in the wrong file, fees uncollected, attendance unrecorded, captain on holiday with the password - book a 30-minute demo. We've ported clubs from spreadsheets in a weekend.
