About this club

Antigonish Rowing Club rows on Lochaber Lake at 1555 Nova Scotia Trunk 7, minutes outside the town of Antigonish. Row Nova Scotia lists it among its five member clubs.

The club was founded in 2005. Its provincial association says it secured the support and funding to install a fully buoyed 2,000-metre race course, described as the only course of its kind east of Quebec, and has used it to host national and international regattas.

Antigonish is also home to the St. Francis Xavier Rowing Club. St. FX is a member of the Canadian University Rowing Association, competes at the Atlantic Rowing Championships and at national level, and worked with Antigonish and Row Nova Scotia to host the 2016 Canadian University Rowing Championships on Lochaber Lake.

The club offers learn-to-row, junior, university and masters programmes, with both recreational and competitive options. Its published season runs from June to November.

Adult learn-to-row sessions are offered in June, July and August, while junior rowing runs on weekday mornings in July and August. The university programme starts with the academic year and includes novice and experienced rowers; masters rowing runs from June through August.
