About this club

Claremont Sports Institute Rowing Academy is the rowing programme at Claremont Secondary School in Victoria. The school currently presents it as CSI Rowing, and Rowing Canada Aviron lists the fuller academy name among its member organisations.

The programme combines rowing, ergometer work, strength training and related activities. It trains during the school day from 2pm to 4pm on five or six days a week depending on each athlete's level of development.

CSI competes in the autumn LVISSAA high-school season and in Rowing Canada Aviron-sanctioned regattas from December to June. Its stated goals include local and away racing, technical and fitness development, and preparing student-athletes to contend for podium places at the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association Championships.

The curriculum covers biomechanics, rowing technique, training principles, periodisation, strength and ergometer work, recovery, nutrition, sport psychology, leadership and on-water safety. The Greater Victoria Youth Rowing Society supports the programme, which has school and community coaches.

Claremont's senior men's quadruple scull won gold at the 2018 CSSRA Championships. A joint Victoria City and Claremont team won Rowing Canada's 2021 Great Indoors Epic Canadian Adventure after recording 2,010,136 metres.

Rowing BC also listed Claremont Rowing Academy athletes in the 2024 under-19 national-team selection project.
