About this club

Deep Cove Rowing Club is a registered non-profit society at 2156 Banbury Road in North Vancouver. Its rowing and regattas take place in Deep Cove and Indian Arm, serving North and West Vancouver while accepting participants from other communities.

The club introduces both adults and young people to rowing, develops members' skills and offers recreational and competitive pathways. It is affiliated with Rowing BC and Rowing Canada Aviron and relies heavily on volunteers for its operation.

Youth rowing is open to grades 8 to 12 across fall, winter, spring and summer seasons. Skilled young rowers can enter the coach-selected Club Development group, while a 36-week North Vancouver School District Rowing Academy provides an alternative physical-education programme with no previous experience required.

Adult and youth learn-to-row courses provide a separate entry point. The club also offers adult recreational, masters and seniors rowing, and its advanced youth crews train in singles, doubles and quadruple sculls for local and national competition.

Deep Cove has produced rowers who progressed to elite programmes in Canada and the United States. Club coach Jill Trigg, who began there in grade eight, won eight Royal Canadian Henley gold medals, represented provincial and national junior teams and received Rowing Canada's top female sculler award.

The club hosts two distinct races at Panorama Park. The Deep Cove Classic is a 7.75-kilometre head race around Indian Arm for junior, open and masters crews, while the North Shore Youth Invitational gives novice, intermediate and experienced juniors 500-metre sprint racing.
