About this club
Club d’aviron d’Alma is based at 470 Avenue Boudreault in Alma and rows on the Petite Décharge at Bassin Saint-Georges. The City of Alma's activity directory describes it as the only rowing club in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.
Its mission covers athletes from youth through masters level, with both recreational and competitive rowing. The club teaches and practises both classical flat-water rowing and coastal rowing.
Published activities include adult on-water training, separate recreational and competitive youth options, and indoor cardio-rowing sessions at Centre Mario-Tremblay. The city directory also identifies accessibility for families, older adults and people with disabilities.
The club has a documented school-age competitive record. In 2009 Alma athlete Laurence M. Bouchard won the senior women's single sculls at the CSSRA Championships, while Bouchard and Marie-Andrée Fournier took silver in the senior women's double.
Alma helped bring coastal racing to Festirame in 2011 with an event on the Grande-Décharge. At a 2016 coastal regatta on Lac Saint-Louis, its ten-person delegation reached the podium five times, including three gold medals.
The club also serves as a regatta venue. The 2024 Coupe Aviron Québec at Alma was sanctioned by Rowing Canada Aviron and the Quebec association and drew 67 entries from seven clubs.
